\\ Health effects of nature-based solutions in deprived neighbourhoods. Relationship between health, wellbeing, behaviour and environment
This doctoral thesis investigates the interrelation between humans and their neighbourhood. To answer this question, the relationships between behavior, well-being, health and environment in three European cities are investigated by a multidimensional approach. Designed as an interventional study this doctoral research takes advantages of the rare oportunity in the H20202 project URBiNAT, to measure before and after the implementation of clustered NBS in three deprived neighbourhoods. the follow up measurement of this interventional study will give important insights on cause-effect relations in the NBS-health domain, thus contributing not only to science but to the political agenda of greening the cities.
I studied a five-year architecture bachelor in UCB-SCZ, Bolivia. Afterwards, I studied the MID-Computational Design in Detmold. During my Master studies, I worked part time at the company Schüco International KG. After graduating from the Master, I joined the ConstructionLab Detmold supporting the MID-Façade Design and developing my research proposal “Façade Design in the Urban Soundscape”. The topic was discussed with the Architectural Façades and Products Research Group from TU Delft, led by Prof. Ulrich Knaack who accepted to be my promotor. The research will be mainly self-funded, and partly sponsored by Schüco.

During my studies I have always been interested in the connections between people and space. When I got the opportunity to work in research after my studies, the decision was easy. The recruitment of the major research project URBiNAT finally gave me the opportunity to base my own doctoral thesis on the case studies of the project. Thanks to the good contacts with the TU Delft, the partner university for the doctoral thesis was also quickly identified.
Während des Studiums habe ich mich schon immer für die Zusammenhänge zwischen Mensch und Raum interessiert. Als ich dann nach dem Studium die Möglichkeit bekommen habe in der Forschung zu arbeiten, war die Entscheidung einfach. Die Einwerbung des großen Forschungsprojekts URBiNAT hat mir dann schließlich die Möglichkeit gegeben auf den Fallstudien meine eigene Doktorarbeit aufzubauen. Durch die guten Kontakte zur TU Delft, war auch die Partner-Universität für die Doktorarbeit schnell gefunden.

HOW I BECAME A PHD CANDIDATE...
At the end of my studies of landscape architecture I concentrated on the concept of the assessment of ecosystem services, especially in urban areas. This includes, among other things, the promotion of health through material and immaterial services of open spaces, as my central focus of investigation. After three years in a large planning office, I used the opportunity to return to university for my doctorate at the TH OWL. The doctorate in cooperation with the TU Darmstadt pursues the goal of showing evaluation methods and perspectives for action for selected open spaces of housing cooperatives to secure and develop the quality of open spaces. Further projects on 'green infrastructure' determine my everyday work in research and teaching.
Zum Ende des Studiums der Landschaftsarchitektur habe ich mich auf das Konzept der Bewertung von Ökosystemleitungen, speziell im urbanen Raum konzentriert. Dazu zählt u.a. die Förderung von Gesundheit durch materielle wie immaterielle Leistungen von Freiräumen, als meinen zentralen Untersuchungsfokus. Nach drei Jahren in einem großen Planungsbüro, nutzte ich für meine Promotion an der TH OWL die Möglichkeit zur Rückkehr an die Hochschule. Die Promotion in Kooperation mit der TU Darmstadt verfolgt das Ziel für ausgewählte Freiräume von Wohnungsgenossenschaften Bewertungsmethoden und Handlungsperspektiven zur Sicherung und Entwicklung der Freiraumqualität aufzuzeigen. Weitere Projekte zur ‚Grünen Infrastruktur‘ bestimmen meinen Berufsalltag in Forschung und Lehre.
